Mount Tamalpais (IPA: /tæməlˈpaɪəs/; MWCD [tam-əl-ˈpi-əs], known locally as "Mount Tam") is a peak in Marin County, California, USA, often considered symbolic of Marin County. Much of Mount Tamalpais is protected within public lands such as Mount Tamalpais State Park and the Mount Tamalpais Watershed.

Tamalpi is the mountain decribed as having the shape of a sleeping maiden, but in our time it is called Mount Tamalpais. This mountain is what separated the settling Miwoks from the Pacific Ocean to the west.
