The Years of Rice and Salt: Book Seven, The Age of Great Progress is mainly about the Industrial Revolution that takes place in India and not in the West. India has a superior navy, hot air balloons, fire-powered ships,coal industries, a shipping industry, and many more technological innovations. India is using a lot of science and technology at the moment. India uses their technologicals inventions to protect themselves from Chinese imperalism. They are making progress with medicina,math,and new weapons and machineries. Some great changes take place at this time. This great progress woudln't have taken place without the machineries because it speeded up the process of getting things done.
